This is the ninth year we've held a MOR Leaders Conference. Each year our practice has been to recognize the leader’s role and relationship to bringing about change. Earlier conferences covered how change has played a major part in an individuals' leadership journey, how participants might look at change as a way of increasing the value proposition of IT at their universities, how they could anticipate and adjust to a future where the new normal is continuous change. Last year, the focus was on creating adaptive organizations that can absorb the rapid pace of change in technology and deliver new services and applications made possible by those technologies.

Our 2016 conference will focus on how we might build on these experiences to REIMAGINE university IT. The forces and trends shaping higher education and IT are moving at a faster and faster pace. The introduction of new technologies, the emergence of on-line learning, the cloud, the increased risks associated with security, the opportunity to scale commodity services and reduce costs and the need to better support the core mission are shifting the IT Landscape. These trends provide a moment in time when IT could position the enterprise to deliver more effective campus solutions that support students, faculty, and staff, in all areas of the university, the teaching, learning and research tools and services critical to advancing the mission. IT could help improve the educational experience and to make new discoveries. Doing this requires that we continue to develop and support the campus IT leadership community, improving partnerships, aligning strategies, and delivering IT services in a more effective and coordinated manner. How could all the stakeholders at your university reimagine how the IT community works together to better leverage the resources to provide a more integrated set of services? If you were creating an IT organization today how would you design this entity?

This conference will explore how several campuses have already begun to do this and provide participants with opportunities to explore ideas and next steps for their campus. As in 2014, the conference this year will be a virtual conference to enable more people to attend. We invite you to gather with your campus colleagues for this session and encourage you to use this opportunity to work collaboratively toward building a shared vision of the future, a leadership community that can make this vision come to fruition, further develop your leadership skills, and to discuss how the IT community on your campus can rapidly evolve to seize the opportunities before it.
